Will you be offering Dual core Opteron laptops anytime in the future?

I'd like to offer an AMD laptop option at some point. AMD is very competitive and I'm particular fond of what they've accomplished - Being a real competitor to a monopoly.

I'd love to see a Turion X2 14 incher, and would likely buy one in a heartbeat (read: when I have money)
On an unrelated note, would it ever be possible for you to sell such a notebook as a barebones kit. I just love hardware, and sort of want to assemble it myself. Yes, I am insane

A lot of people (especially forum dwellers :)) like building their own pc's. The problem we face with that sort of option is the confusion a standard consumer may face.

How about a "I certify that I do indeed know what I'm doing" checkbox? :)
Or, would it be possible to order an empty shell by emailing/contacting you directly? Again, I'd like to build it myself, but I'd also like to support anyone that's building Ubuntu Laptops, and I like the S76 branding on the Z/S62 as well.

I guess, I don't understand what you are requesting. If you want a barebones laptop, why would you want to buy from system76? System76 provides a specific service which is very attractive to me - the means of running ubuntu linux on well supported hardware something that can be pain to do given that most companies don't care about linux when they make laptops.
I personally would not like system76 to sell barebones systems but rather concentrate on their core competency which is selling a complete packaged solution for people who want to run linux on hardware that is well supported under linux.
As part of that, I commend them on trying to develop software for missing functionality (for example writing camera drivers for Gazelle) which is more useful. I would rather they focus on things like that.
Now if they can solve (with the help of X.org) the problem of restarting X whenever the laptop needs to be connected to an external monitor, I would be a reference for life. This technology has been in Windows for a long time and I am disappointed that the X group has not done anything to alleviate this problem instead choosing to focus on eye candy.

I think it's fine that people like to build their own laptops, desktops, etc. It's just not the business we're in.
You make a good point about restarting X - it's an annoyance of mine as well. I've heard that X is modularizing like the kernel. This would, I presume, solve the problem.
