I am very close to purchasing one. Just wondering if I could get some feedback on how they run.
Does the hardware work as well as promised?
Does suspend/hibernate work well?
Do they run hot? Are the fans loud?
How's the battery performance?
How do they feel - solid and reliable or cheap and clunky?
What's the monitor look like?
Also, any recommendations on how to customize one. I'm thinking of installing at least a gig of RAM, maybe more. I need a general purpose web surfing/email/development box which I can also use to play music and watch videos. No real gaming for me.
Any and all feedback appreciated.

I'm pretty sure we have customers in here with Serval's. You should here something soon :)

Hmmm, no more responses.
Oh well, I'm probably going to take the risk and buy one anyway.
Crichell, I'm going to be calling your company sometime in the next week - I have a few more questions to ask.

BTW, just curious, are you selling a lot overseas? I imagine you could make a bundle of money selling laptops/desktops in Europe.

At this point it's tough to be competitive with the shipping cost - we are, however; negotiating new rates as we speak.

One more question - any plans to release a laptop with a screen resolution higher than 1200x800?

screen resolution higher than 1200x800?
Not at this point - we are evaluating some 17" lappies with a higher resolution.

I'm late, but for what it's worth.
I'm happy with mine. I'm new to Ubuntu, coming from Fedora, but I'm getting used to it. I've moved one of my other machines here. I think Redhat shot themselves in the foot with Fedora, and its short window of updates. The biggest thing I miss is package selection on install, but you're getting a preinstalled system here.
But about the Serval:
It works fine. It's linux so I have a minor unsolved problem or two but mainly because I haven't had time to fix, both these are quirky and specific to my setup. I use this mostly mostly as a desktop I can move around easily, so it's usually plugged into a regular monitor and keyboard.
It's not hot, and very quiet (one of the reasons I wanted a laptop).
Suspend is OK
Battery life is short compared to some smaller machines with big batteries (I have a Dell X1 with a six-cell and it lasts 6 hours +), but that's not a fair comparison.
The monitor and graphics card are cool.
It looks and feels fine.
I have two gigs of ram in mine but this is a matter of what you do, not brand specific.
