I just installed ubuntu64 to go along with my new amd64 chip. I am happy with my new set up but cannot find much in the games topic :/ Almost every deb I find is for i386 and forcing the install does not seem to help becuase the game does not start. I have opengl + sdl development libraries and attempting to build source does not help either. Does anyone know of ANY nice rpg games I could play? Preferably something like Diablo? I tried using wine for most win32 games but nothing runs good except RTCW. I currenly have nethack and gnome-nethack but was looking for something that looks better. Maybe something 3D? I have direct rendering so just need a good game to play.

The only 64bit game that I know off (there may be other's?) is UT2k4. It installs natively & automaticaly installs 64bit if it is appropriate.
Having said that, I initially installed Breezy 64bit when I first came to Ubuntu. I was happy, but many things were much harder to do, or did not work at all on 64bit. After trashing my system, I thought I'd have a look at 32bit. I can not tell the difference in speed, & so many things are much easier, or are now possible in 32bit.
All the windoze games are 32bit, so if you want to play games, there is really no benefit in running a 64bit OS, only more difficulties.
That's my experience anyway...
Not meaning to sound negative, have fun whatever you do... :KS

+1.
Just because you have a 64 bit processor, the 64 bit OS isn't the best choice. If you really want to 'play' with the 64 bit OS, go for it... but for now, there really isn't a solid advantage for all the disadvantages and headaches you have to put up with.

Personally idont know why people buy 64 bits cpu to use linux nothing improved as i see it becuse all i386 software is still good and as i noticed games works with lover graphic and hardware at all with linux that i deos in windows so if i would be you and think smart i would wait for about 2 more months and then it will maybe be some good things out :)

I'm not sure, but I don't think AMD make 32bit CPU's anymore?
