Alright, I've played in Windows, but since I mainly use linux now anyway, I thought I'd give it a try, since I've heard it works. First off, here are my system specs:
P4 @ 2.66GHz
512MB PC2700
nVidiaFX5200
Now, I know that cedega is what most people use, but I'd like to try it first. My friend said he had it and sent me an rpm, which I used alien on, and tried, but it didnt work. So i'm thinking I need to do it through point2play. My question is, is WoW pretty much guarenteed to work if I buy cedega? I have all the newest drivers and whatnot (original kernel though).

any news? i know it can be done with wine, with a bit of hassle of course ;-)
but if cedega is proven to work, then ill have no need to ever think about windows again :)

I've run Point2Play and WOW on Fedora3, Warty 32bit, and Hoary 64bit without any issues except for sound in Hoary 64bit.
The guys at Transgaming do incredible work and it's worth supporting them with your $5 a month!
TIP: keep a copy of the WOW folder in Windows. If you have trouble installing, you can simply copy it to linux.

WoW!! This works great! Even better then it did in Windows! On a p4 2.66GHz, 512MB ram, and an FX5200 gfx card, im getting ~30-40fps in buildings, ~25-30 in cities, and ~15-20 outdoors (which is actually a little lower, but i dont mind). This is at 1024x768 with really no special effects on.
One problem I did have was p2p didnt want to finish installing it, it errored out at the end, so what I did was copied over the dir from the windows partition, then just ran the exe from there. Absolutely perfect! Thanks Cedega!

Cedega really is worth every penny. I tried for a week to get the CVS version going without much luck. I'm using an ATI card which makes it even harder since the drivers seem a bit flakey. But if your even going to attempt this, please do yourself a favor and buy Cedega, these guys/girls at Transgaming really did a great job and should be supported for their efforts. And it's $15 for 3 months of updates, plus you keep the binaries if you cancel the subscription.

I have cedega, i find it hard to belive it would run WoW Better since its an emulator. Most games i have used on cedega are 10-20% slower and sometimes do not render all effects properly.
Im Windows free :-)

About alien(ing) the rpm to a deb mostly the debs dont work as expected if at all. Simply because different Linux distros have a different file structure and where Fedora would have the RPM installed might not be where a normal deb would have it installed.
Cedega were once giving away demo's and i couldn't get many of the games that i wanted to install working. Morrowind, Soul Reaver 2 Neverwinter Nights (I know now alright :P).
Though a good alternative to WoW is Guild Wars for the simple reason that there is no mothly charge for us students that can't afford Windows and WoW and nVidea etc
Will the game be released on a different OS (Macintosh, Linux, etc.), or on other video game consoles?
Guild Wars is being developed on, and will initially be released for, the PC. We are aware that there is an interest in having the game available on other operating systems or other platforms, and we will continue to evaluate these possibilities as we get closer to release.
Maybe... just maybe
