Shrapnel (Horse and musket series) has developed a new game called Dominions 3: The Awakening. It's a fantasy 4x strategy game (eXplore, eXpand and all that).
It has a linux native demo, I'm downloading right now, I hope you'll enjoy it...

You guys are spoiled. Dominions 2 is a great game, even though it has lousy graphics. Guess what? Games are good when they have good gameplay (game - gameplay, see a link?), as opposed to when they try to showcase the curves of Lara Croft perfectly (for example). Eye candy is one of a number of things that attract players to a game; gameplay is the only thing that keeps players involved with the game.
That is the main reason why roguelikes and muds still exist.
I'll try Dominions 3 as soon as I find time. Kudos to the developers for standing firm and doing gameplay, as opposed to going the "all graphics" direction that has seen the demise of so many great games - Settlers, Civilization, etc.

I play alot of games from fps to rts to rpg, but Dominons 2 was the only that I was stilling playing long after I had finished or quit the rest. Definitely putting this on my list to buy in the next month or two when I have a bit more cash flow. :)

Soon really soon. Savage 2 is hitting beta really soon.

I completly agree. I like a game with depth than fancy graphic. The problems with nowadays games (most of them) is that it's all about looking nice and when it comes to content they suck <censored>!

I just downloaded the dominions3demo.run file but am unsure as to how to install it.
Would anyone help a n00b by telling me what command I need to use?
Thanks in advance.

Open a terminal, go to the directory containing dominions3demo.run (by typing cd /path/to/directory/) and typchmod +x dominions3demo.run
./dominions3demo.run
