Hi, I'm trying to install steam on ubuntu linux 6.06. I got wine installed the tahoma font installed for steam. I was having trouble installing steam I thought up a way to do this. Every time I'd try to install steam in the terminal like this wine steaminstall.exe id get that its not in the .wine/drive_c/etc./system 32. So I came up with Idea put the steaminstall.exe
into the system 32 file. Went backa to terminal typed wine steaminstall.exe it worked and installed fine. Now Im havining trouble updating it gets to 26% and quits I've tried everthing from the tutorial at linux-gamers.net. Still nothing. Did I install wrong, or is it a silly little mistake?](*,)

Please Help:confused:

Hmmmm, first of all, did you install wine from source? The newest (0.9.22) has the system tray problem from the past fixed, I would recomend looking at this guide instead: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=1554. Scroll down to the blue header to get started. Post back if you have any problems working it out. I have steam working flawlessly with hl2 and counter-strike source using this guide. Good luck!

Steam.exe (main exception): Failed to Get File Attributes Win 32 error 2 "file not found"

This might help in my problem

Edit

I was using wine 0.9.9 which is way out of date so thers my problem
