I'm looking for a good laptop that runs Linux well. System76 is an obvious choice. However, I'd like to run Edgy, and it would be nice if it was pre-installed. So:

* Is System76 going to install and support Edgy when it's out, or stick with the more stable Dapper LTS?

* If it will be available pre-installed, how soon after release will you make it available?

hi skymt - we will support and provide Edgy once it's released.

how soon after release will you make it available?

Barring any unforseen issues the day after Edgy's release

Hi Carl,

I wanted to first say that I think your company is really innovative and off to a great start.

Now, what I wanted to know is: will Kubuntu be an option on your laptops in future--particularly with Edgy Eft. I'm running the beta now, and it is really nice. A pre-configured Kubuntu edgy system would be great.

All the best

suggestion, as Dapper is the "LTS" release, why not offer a choice of Dapper or Edgy? (and then Dapper/Edgy+1, etc)

I doubt Kubuntu will be an option with the edgy release. We're always considering it though.

We've been debating this around here. I'm not sure how we're going to handle it yet. We're considering exactly what you're suggesting.
