I've been trying to install GuildWars and WoW under Wine, but the games complains about that i don't have any 3D hardware installed.
Yes i am a Wine-n00b but the 'wine <gamepath/game.exe> -opengl' worked before on my old nvidia system.
A few of my friends have Nvidia cards and in Ubuntu they work just fine in WoW using the nvidia driver from universe/multiverse... Well until a WoW update broke Wine

Is it a configuration issue with Xorg or Wine? That woult be nice 'cause I would hate to install the fglrx from ATI's site and do the '--force-overwrite' trick on libxmesa-gl. It rubbed me the wrong way when during the Horay-beta Ubuntu needed to update the libxmesa-gl and couldn't until i removed the ati-driver...

Or is the wine package in winehq's better than the one in Ubuntu?

Can anyone in here help? [-o<

(If anything in here was poorly misspelled then think of is a Danish thing ;-) )

it is very likely that a CVS installation from winehq is more up to date than the Ubuntu package
however, I am not sure if this would help your problem
it is probably some crazy stuff you have to do for that ATi card

Did you try it allready with cedega?

Cedega is a wine fork especially for playing games.

I know, but I keep cedega as my last option because i really don't like them. They forked Wine and almost don't contribute anything back... Crossower is way better at giving back to Wine - but their focus is on apps and as Cedega it costs money...

BUT on my system Wine is there for gaming purposes only, so if it comes to buying stuff it would be Cedega even though I think their monthly "give os money or else!" license is over the top dispickable!
