hide folders

hey all,
i have a directory with a lot of other user directories in it. when a user loggs in, i want them to only be able to see their folders they have access to. i know this is possible under novell. is it possible under ubuntu?
i dont want to just restrict them from accessing the folder. the reason i want to completelly hide the folder is to reduce confusion from the end user.

i did some research online and found a program called gobohide that looks like it does the job. i'm not sure how to install it though. any help is much appriciated
