Hi, I want your experience for selecting some OS apps for a startup
mi choices are (* is my current favorite, need suggestions!)
aims are easy install, good support, nothing too fancy. I am not afraid of commercial Open Source.

How could I miss project open!?!?!?
was looking in internet for long and didnt found it. will try.
about open and closed source, well, prefer open, but no problen using closed source if is the only alternative.

Interesting that you did not list any ERP's since this should be the backbone for running any business (small or large). I would recommend the following ordered based on maturity and openness:
1. Adempiere
2. OFBiz
3. OpenMFG

ProjectOpen is not really an ERP, but it is unique among project management oriented applications in that it includes finance. It does invoicing, time tracking, expenses, profitability calculation, etc.
If you are running a small company that provides services (not products) for a living, it might be a fit. They claim it to be a "sort of ERP".
It runs on the AOLServer, which is akin to the LAMP server. Basically, it uses Postgres instead of SQLServer (which I prefer).
I got it up and running on Dapper without too much difficulty. I was impressed with the speed of AOLServer.
