I'm in the market for a new laptop (well, have been for a while)
As I only plan to use Linux on it, your System76 laptops are appealing, in particular the 14" with the gf7300 (Gazelle, i think)
but I was wondering if its possible to get a higher capacity battery for that model (or any of your models) as battery life is usually my primary concern with a laptop. I need at minimum 3 hours, 4 to be on the safe side, and any more past that is even more preferable.
Also, can the systems be purchased without hard drives or optical drives? You don't offer many options for those, as I'd like a laptop with at least a 160GB hard drive, and also a slot-loading optical drive. (The dvd drive in my current laptop often comes open while in my backpack, and I'm always worried that it will someday break off.)
Obviously, I see that your site has no way to specify such an order, but could a special order be done via email or something?
and also, do you ever say which particular barebones kits you are building your notebooks from? just for the sake of finding more reviews/information/etc about it before i buy.
I don't know how close I am to buying a new notebook, but I've been researching them for the last few months. At this point, I think I'm down to one of yours or buying a Built on ASUS model and putting it together myself.
