Is there a Ubuntu equivalent of 'sid'?
I've been running Debian for years in half sid half experimental state, but switched to Ubuntu because of GNOME 2.10, however i am still finding that some stuff is still outdated in Hoary
thanks.

Couldn't you just add a Debian Sid mirror to your /etc/apt/sources.list?

I can, but why? Ubuntu has its own "unstable" doesn't it ?

It would be better to just use breezy.
Change Hoary to breezy in your repos.
