Indeed, looks like the old calendars are gone.
Probably, the image of a nude picture was too shocking for some people...

I certainly hope that is not true. Maybe we can start a donation to support the ladies, or at least the March lady.

I believe that the calender backgrounds should all be furry little pink Teddy Bears, on a field of Telly Tubbies with plastic windmill flowers turning in the wind..., all under a candy-colored rainbow, as little kittens run to and fro chasing flighty butterflies fleeting from flower to flower like cute innocent thoughts sending luvvy-dubbies and wee red hearts to all who use Ubuntu......, as little puppies (can't forget puppies) roll gleefully in the greenest of grasses..., while in the distance, in the greenest of trees, far from the menace of civilization in the form lumberjacks, little birdies chirped their springtime songs as they fed their fledglings crumbs from the best Montreal bagels.
But the smile of Mrs Sun changed into a saddened frown as she looked down upon the pool of Dolphins leaping with joy among the colored fishies, for in the distance, a group of hunters was approaching from the woods with greenest of green trees from which the mama cat pulled the baby birds from their nests with her claws before crunching their peeping little heads with her fangs. In the distance, the sound of chain saws slicing into the greenest of green trees with emptied nests, drowned out the splashes of dolphins and the agnoizing wail of pink teddy bears being ripped apart by shotgun blasts.
As time passed, all the kingdom was replaced with oil wells and Conquering Army camps from the land of Uni-Fighting Steaks of Bushica that needed oil to run all their Yuppies' Hummers and to bury Kyoto under the black heavy smoke of irreversible pollution.
In other words, using a black screen is the answer for a calendar that doesn't offend anyone.

Can we have the kitty pounce on the birdie? That'd be cute.

How about, dolphins jumping out of a ultra blue pond with many colourful fish
and a shinny Mrs Sun looking all that with a great smile ?

Well I don't like the latest calendar, it's not even in the Ubuntu colours. Does anyone have a copy they have adjusted that is more in line with the Ubuntu theme?
I have gone back to March, maybe they will realise their mistake for next month's. I guess that it costs less to create a digital image than get a model to pose and it causes less controversy.
It is a sad sign of the times that everybody is trying so desperatly not to offend anyone. I laugh the hardest when I watch the generalisations of Aussie's. I almost wet myself watching the Simpsons episode when they came to Australia.

I'm not happy with the new wallpaper either. It took time to get to like the human theme, damnit, and just when I get used to it I see this.. throwback to an XP wallpaper. And it doesn't go with the brown borders ! I'm not saying there shouldn't be any experimentation with it, but this seems too much like caving in to the "ubuntu is ugly" talk.

apt-get install ubuntu-calendar
you can also get ALL the ubuntu-calendar images by "apt-get install ubuntu-calendar-<month>" where <month> is a month between october and april.

I changed my wallpaper to pure black as you suggested, stared at it for a bit, and got lost in it's emptiness. For some reason, sweet seductive memories of my Farrah Faucett poster I had back in '75 resurfaced. I really can't say I was offended by it either, so thanks for the suggestion. I highly recommend the black screen as well.

I've uploaded a modified version to the art gallery. It's done purely in the alpha layer so you can set whatever colour you like in your background.
I don't think the thumbnail came out quite right, but the image is okay.

Thanks. I already had the calendar installed; it was just "stuck" on March (which, in retrospect, was not a bad thing), and I couldn't see an April in Synaptic. Finally figured out I was missing a repository.

Yeah it works great, I didn think it would at first cause I didn't exactly know what "alpha channel" meant and all I saw in FF was a white image. :)
I just can't get the background colour right. What background setting do you use? Just the Colour name will do.
