It would be very nice to see Ubuntu versions on 1 or 2 DVDs (like Debian Sarge) because here in Croatia are lots of users on dial-up, unfortunately :(
P.S. I'll probably switch to Ubuntu from Slack because of Pat's dropping of GNOME.
As soon as I get the new version and the software when someone downloads it
for me :)

I'm working on that. Its a little difficult. Now you can currently get a normal Ubuntu CD sent to you for free though!

There is a dvd image available for download with all packages from main, if you can download and burn it somewhere on a computer.

I know, thanks :) I ordered it last mounth :) It's not a problem to pay for a service like that, but to download big group of packages by dial-up might be a problem :-/

I didn't know that. Thanks. BTW where can I find that image?

I have the same problem.
That's why I'm still on SuSE 9.2. It comes on a DVD that has EVERYTHING, so I don't have to download anything... with the exception to new versions.

If enough people speak out about not have broadband I'm sure a DVD set will get put out. There's a good chance it would not have non-free stuff on though.
If there is a Linux User Group anywhere near you, I bet you can blag a set of CDRs or a DVD or two full of Ubuntu goodness.

Have you tried "local bookstore"? In Poland there are enough Linux magazines with distros on multiple cds or dvds for reasonable prices.
Of course, usually you have to wait a month or so after the distro is released, but it is not that bad - sometimes you will get extra cd with non-free/ restricted packages (like java, nvidia drivers etc.). I was a dial-up user until half a year ago, so I know this feeling (Ubuntu is my first fully downloaded/ upgraded online distro).

It doesn't have to bee free stuff, we can pay someone to download it for us, or to pay it to Ubuntu :)
