I'm on a Compaq v2565us, and I have a Logitech USB Dual Shock 10-button controller. I've tried everything suggested in this thread (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=28538), but nothing has worked...! I've run the calibrator, I've tried running games as root, I've tried plugging the controller into all three USB ports (one of which is USB2.0 and produced odd results, as if the right d-pad button was constantly being presed), I've tried it all.

I refuse to use xjoypad or whatever it was, because man is that hacky. What could be causing this problem...? Could it be wine?

I had similar problems here, using the USB Logitech Dual Power Firestorm 3 (for MAME, Mupen64 and ePSXe).

To be honest I'm not sure exactly why it's behaving itself now...I also tried many of the suggestions in the last thread you posted. Seems USB gamepads are a little tricky. IMHO, Ubuntu/Linux would do well to improve the GUI and functioning of joysticks and gamepads - keep us ex-Winblows gamers happy!

Bump... anyone have any words of wisdom?
