big time nOOb here. 3 months on suse and 3 days on ubuntu. ubuntu is great. I am almost away from having to have xp on my machine, BUT.....

in suse, i could run programs as root from the kde/gnome menu. if not, i could always login as root and run the programs.

i now know there is no root in ubuntu. how do i run programs as sudo? there doesnt seem to be this option in the menus. is there any way to avoid a terminal window? can i add something to the menu?

The GUI applications that demand sudo access are already setup by default. Should you want to create a sudo launcher just do "gksudo application.name".

Yes there is a menu editor. We encourage users to use the search tool ;) .
