The two latest game release from VieWizard is free (as in beer) to Linux while Window users have to pay:
http://gaming.gwos.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=128&Itemid=1
Instead the Linux users can Donate if they like the game(s)

The two games we're talking about:
AstroMenace: http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/AstroMenace
Memonex: http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Memonix

It's a good idea to make a little donation (if you like their games) so they still want to make freeware version for Linux.

God, this game is really cool...I know it is another post..but seriously, if this game was in the commercial repos...it would be a feather in our cap.

It's currently in beta, does anyone know whether it'll become shareware when it reaches 1.0?

It won't become a pay vesion for linux. You can use it when it's done.

BUT I recommend that people makes a small donation so they keep making free games for Linux.
I have donated $20 to the game. I hope people do the same (ofcause what they can afford and they think is fair to donate etc.) so we in te future can get cool games from Viewizard.

I tried it.

It's slow. High framerate, just slow.

Schmups aren't supposed to be slow.

I deleted it.

Works fine here. Did you checked if you 3D acc. driver works properly. Also that you meet the minimum hardware requirements.

I said it has a high framerate. The gameplay is just way too slow for my tastes.

Thanks for the link, AI. It wasn't bad, certainly has much better graphics than the freeware games I used to try out. :)

I just set this up and played. WOW. Really nice. I see what skymt was saying about the pace but its still really fun.

It doesnt do widescreen (I think thats for a reason though) and wont do 1600x1200 (Also for a reason I guess).

I have all the settings up as high as I can put 'em on my 7900 GT. Looks real nice. ;)

They also have another game called Memonix (http://www.viewizard.com/memonix/index_linux.php). Really nice game for the kids. :)

And thanx for the How-To (http://gaming.gwos.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=130&Itemid=63) over at Ubuntu Gamers Arena (http://gaming.gwos.org/) A.I. ;)

A decent game, kinda reminds me of chromium (it's on synaptic) which I only got un-addicted from, a few days ago...(must resist the urge to re-install it)
