enemy territory multiplay

Downloaded and installed 2.60, runs fine. Tryed to play multiplay require 2.60b, downloaded a patch that just required two files. Replaced them.
Now whenever I try to join, it keeps trying to download files (even as root), when it does load the map (some servers) it disconnects me saying something like "data integrity"

Also when I host a game, punk buster detects some confg hack. Problem?

hacked cg_qAfontscale or something a rather

I did

sudo chown me:me -R ~/.etwolf

and run et as normal

punkbuster kicks me and reports data integrity error #20004

The problem is the latest Patch V 2.60 B.
I assume you don't have a server and you are only playing as "client".
Only if you want to play on server with the modification ET-Pro V 3.2.6 Beta 1 and Beta 2 (only a few server) you have to have V 2.60 B.
This patch is not compatible with all the server with other mods / mod-versions.
I recommend to only install V 2.60.
So you will be able to join most of the server.
