View Full Version : Savage crashes desktop on exit

I'm using linux kernel 2.6.15-26-686 on Kubuntu. In order to get Savage to run, I had to create a symbolic link to libtiff.so.4 (the game apparently looks for libtiff.so.3). Now the game runs perfectly but when I exit, X and the desktop freezes at game resolution (which is different than my desktop res)...I have to ctrl-alt-del and restart the session. What's causing this? How can it be fixed?

Other info: I installed the game as root but changed ownership and permissions for the entire savage directory /usr/local/games/Savage so I can run it as any user and still perform updates...As I said, the game updates and runs perfectly but crashes on exit.

I still can't get an answer for this and no one else has mentioned having this particular problem with Savage. When I exit the game, the mouse is frozen and desktop resolution becomes the game res. The only fix is to CTRL-ALT-Backspace and restart X.

Please help me out or at least post here if you are having this problem on Kubuntu. I haven't gotten any answer from WhiteDwarf at http://www.notforidiots.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9
