What's your favorite game? Can anybody suggest certain games for me? For example, if I said I'm looking for an online RPG that's a Linux native game, is there one? What about a nice shooter? How about something like CS? Anything like GTA out there? Need For Speed?

Guild Wars works great via Cedega (http://www.transgaming.com/) (unfortunately not on the free Wine yet) Cedega will cost you $15.50 US. for the minimum 3 months subscription. You can use all of the versions that you have downloaded & installed of Cedega legally for the rest of your life. Which makes it not quite so bad, IF Cedega does what you want NOW?
Cedega Demo Here. (http://linux.softpedia.com/get/GAMES-ENTERTAINMENT/Simulation/Cedega-9843.shtml)
The Cedega demo is not the latest version, which by the way has come quite a way since that demo, but, the demo is a free trial!? Up to you!
The games from id = based on the doom & quake engines, are very likely written on linux & openGL, they all run natively! :KS
As are the Unreal engine based games.
I play UT2k4, & it is definitely faster, & is at least as good in 3D quality played at the same 1600x1200 24bit res', with everything graphically maxed out, as it was on identical hardware when I used to play it on the old windoze xp operating system!!
You need to ask specific questions re: Games you can't live without, that you play on windoze?
It is quite possible that you can NOT play them via linux... Check it out before you commit to linux, if you are a serious gamester...
All the best... :KS

AI - any you strongly suggest? I tried Enemy Territory a while back... I'm not sure if I just had to get used to it but DAMN did I ever get my *** kicked. I barely got to take a couple steps from my base and I'd be getting shot down. Just seemed way too different from Half Life or CS where I had trouble aiming and such.

Savage,
It's free, fun, and it runs on linux natively.
It's an FPS/RTS hybrid (RTS for commander, FPS for players). A commander that's not bad is key to a fun game, so if you want to practice that portion it's generally good to practice on an empty (or near empty) server to avoid the impeach votes.

http://www.truecombatelite.net/ (which is an Enemy Territories conversion thing) looks to be a lot like CS, though I haven't actually had a chance to play it.

Maybe I'm odd, but when you say Online Role-Playing games, I instantly think of Neverwinter Nights. Since it is actually role-playing. I don't consider any of those MMORPGs as role-playing games, simply because really all you do is walk around, kill monsters, gather treasure and get hit on by teenagers who think just because you'd rather watch a female character backside than a male characters, that you are in real life a woman! Don't deny it, pimply faced players. You always give free stuff to the female characters, and it's probably a big fat balding guy sitting behind his PC.
Back when I played Ultima Online, people would always give us stuff, simply because our characters were female. It was quite amusing.

In Guild Wars I have 4 beautiful female characters for just the reason that you mention above!
I agree that GW is not really an RPG, but I love it anyway... It has enough complexity for my tiny brain.

WoW, GW are RPGs, from the point that they follow the basic RPG rules.
In every of these games, the player has a specific class which has some specific skills of its own. Most of them have an economical system, and they require you to be social and talkative to rise. Since they include all these, they are RPGs.
Neverwinter Nights are based on D20 rules, and other pure RPGs (imo) like Planescape:Torment (a must, for a person who wants to play a nice rpg) are based on conversation and the choices you take.
I havent studied the RPG definition, but I think that mmorpgs are rpgs too, because they follow they basic rules of an rpg game.
MMORPGs are not _THAT_ rpg based, because they are available to the public and they will fail if they are not enough mainstream for the people to purchase them, so they usually pay more attention to increase the difficulty of the game, or to make the graphics better than establish a pure RPG world.
But well, I really like mmorpgs and I was addicted to them for a year~. (Linux helped me greatly, to heal.)
And finally, the paraplegic 14years old who are trying to get an online gf to cybersex, are totally a curse for these games. These, and the people running arround shouting "NOOB!!!" everytime they lose.

To my surprise, no one is talking about Americas Army (a.k.a. armyops) in this thread. It's native, it's loads of fun and more realistic than many other games (FPS). If you get shot you will actually bleed to death or die from the first bullet and if you are hurt aiming will be more difficult, which adds a bit to the challenge and makes it a whole lot more interesting. AA is basically the only game I play regularly now.
If I would know of a good community for Neverwinter Nights I would play that game a whole lot more, but I don't so that one is just sitting on my shelf.
SuperTux is actually a great game for SuperMario players, though I am not much into that myself.
Heroes of Might and Magic 5 is also a great game, but it isn't native and you need a very fast computer to play it through wine. This is actually the only reason I dual-boot (but I only play once a month or so).

I'm more into strategy, RPG and Arcade so I can't give you a qualified answer to your problem. The only FPS I play is UT2004 (and perhaps 2007 in the future).

AI -> He is referring to previously mentioned people who enjoy crying "noob" as an insult to people who defeat them in battle on MMORPG servers.
