Hi,

I am trying to install Hoary on my PowerMac G4, but I can't boot off the cd. I burned the iso file in Toast (Disk Utitility kept crashing..), yet afterwards it's not detected as a startup volume in Startup Disk (System Preferences). I also tried burning to cd-rw using my iBook, but it's still not detected as a startup volume. Holding down 'c' on startup does nothing either. I even tried 'boot cdrom' in Open Firmware.

I checked the md5sums and they match. Has anyone installed Hoary on a Mac using the new powerpc cd images?

Toast won't work to write the Ubuntu ISO either...

you have to use the missing media burner

Thanks for the tip! I'm going to try out regular cdrecord since I can't get MissingMediaBurner to work at all.

I think that a link should be on to the top of this forum to that site.

You can give FireStarter FX a try also. Worked well for me.
