First attempt

Hey folks,

Just installed Ubuntu 6.06 yesterday and have been playing about with it somewhat and I must say, I`m really impressed with how easy it is to use and find your feet on.

Anywho, I wanted to do my bit for the community and thought I would create a few desktop backgrounds.

First off, sorry the Ubuntu font is not the lovely round edged font, I don't have that one and am not sure where to get it, so if someone knows where I can get it that would be appreciated.

Anywho ...

Here is my first attempt at a few desktop background:

It is much better than I could do, but it is not for me. I am not a fan of the diagonal lines. I like less busy-ness.

I think I will soften the diagonals a bit and then repost them ... sounds like a good idea.

Ok, I edited the diagonal lines so that they were less visable:

1280x1024 (http://justchillen.net/ubuntu/ubuntu_v.0.2.2_1280.gif)
1280x800 (http://justchillen.net/ubuntu/ubuntu_v.0.2.2_1280x800.gif)
1600x1200 (http://justchillen.net/ubuntu/ubuntu_v.0.2.2_1600.gif)

I also removed the lines completely for those that don't like diagonal line effects:

1600x1200 - No Lines (http://justchillen.net/ubuntu/ubuntu_v.0.2_1600_no_lines.gif)

Hope those are a bit better.

Yes, much better. Can you do something about the slight jaggies on the text?

Sorted, forgot to smoothen the text edges.

Applied a smooth border to all the image resolutions.

Just uploaded over the previous images so the links in post #6 should now link to the new versions.
