Maybe you should dlete all threads in each forum but the 500 most recent, do increase releibilty, speed and uptime.

Ive read why they dont do this. Its to let the people have access to 'the wealth of knowledge' which is in the forum, be it old, new and/or redundant. or something like that.

In other words, I can find my question already answered instead of posting it again.
How would it improve uptime anyway?

Good pont - it won't improve uptime, but it will increase the speed of SQL queries, because there will be fewer rows to search through.

But then threads which would have been valuable help to someone with a problem will be deleted very quickly. And there will be no point in searching the forum any more for people who had a similar problem, especially if you have a rare problem, because your solution might have happened to be in a thread that was old, and got deleted.
