enemy-territory graphics wierdness

this is the first time this has happened to me, and i've been using ubuntu since breezy, it loads fine but the graphics have this wierd grey dropshadow, i'm not sure how to explain it. It's really bad.

i'm not sure what the problem is, tremulous runs fine
