I got a notice there was a new update available for my System 76 laptop. When I ran the auto-updater, it said the upgrade was not authenticated. The description was for a universal system driver from v1.4 to v1.5. I assume this is valid?
Thanks,
Craig

maverick - yes the driver is authentic. We haven't setup an authentication key yet.

What's in the update? Is there a changelog or something?

This update doesn't effect any current customers. It adds the new Gazelle Value to the driver.

I also asked for a ChangeLog a couple of weeks back, and you skipped that part of the question then, so I'll just try again now... is there one?

Aye, that's the URL of my original question. Your answer there is "This was a minimal update to support Edgy when it arrives". But is there an actual ChangeLog? The best right now that we have to determine what exactly the Sys76 driver does is the file list in Synaptic. Which I btw interpret to the effect that it actually is an audio driver only. At least the Bonobo's sound works fine without it under Edgy. Is there any other reason one should install that package for?

The driver adds support for unsupported devices (of which the only device on the Bonobo is the camera - and the driver for it is under development. Once completed the System67 driver is updated with the new camera driver. Currently sound for microphones is the only addition for Edgy (full sound support for machine running Dapper). This week (I think) a new driver will be released adding support for the Gazelle Value card reader. Within weeks (as the devs tell me) the camera driver will be completed and added to the driver as well. With the next release we'll be adding a web page to our KB with a changelog and clearer explanation of exactly what the driver is doing.

Cool, thanks :) ... that's some much sought for info.

I just tried to install the driver under Edgy and get a message that tells me if I get it I should contact Sys76 support. Anything special that my computer needs to have in order to be recognized as a Sys76 device?
