Slashdot Strikes Again!

ok so i came into work this morning, cheery because hoary is officially released today! I, like many other avid Ubuntu users(even though i have hoary on my desktop already, i mean i still want the final CD!). decided to hit up slashdot first, i mean where do nerds go first? front page had this info: http://linux.slashdot.org/linux/05/04/08/1213250.shtml?tid=162&tid=121&tid=106

slashdot main page. only a few other distros get slashdot main page on release. the only ones that come to mind are redhat/fedora and now mandriva. its strange, ubuntu is finally bigtime.

yeah, i had to wait a while to be able to download the hoary i386 iso. i am downloading it now around 50k/sec. i bet the torrents are rockin because of the slashdot effect on them.

You speak the truth brother! Had the ISO from the torrent in less than 30 minutes, gotta be the fastest ISO torrent download I've had yet. Seeding now @ 62K.

Yep, lots of comments in that /. post. To bad, I stayed up all night to get a good first post (one that would direct noobs) but I failed. Yet when I woke up I had modpoints! Karma is very fair sometime. Time to mod some Ubuntu haters into oblivion.

the server is pretty slow though. i tried doing a download of kubuntu and i was getting 3k a sec or 300bytes/sec..... :shock:

you cant bitorrent apt-get updates:) i should have qualified that more, i was downloading the kubuntu packages via apt-get.

mr. t.... well, people seemed to get the wrong impression about me. that i was a mad guy or whatever. seriously i am not mad at all(most of the time). so i changed it to one of my favoriate simpsons characters. plus with the forums changing over, and new hoary, hey a new avatar would be cool too. so kassetra helped me and now i have this shiny new ned flanders avatar.

You know, it DOES seem to change the dynamic of your posts! I never thought you were angry though, I guess it just takes away some of the irony ;)
