Edgy Eft images

Hey, I googled images about Eft and found a few that might be nice to vectorize and use for Edgy Eft, but I suck at doing vector graphics. Anyone in the mood for drawing? =)

These images are "stolen", in the way as I never asked anyone if they could be used or checked for copyright or whatever. If you search google images for Eft they are quite easy to find and maybe some author contact can be found also if it is needed. However, I wouldn't think that is needed if they are vectorized anyways since it then becomes an interely new piece of work.

was just wondering what an eft was anyhow... look like funny little creatures, think I never saw one in real-life, I guess they don't live in europe anyway...
I could do the vectorizing job... but I don't know when... bloody busy at the time... at least for the next month...

apparently they are only 3/4 of an inch, about the size of a big coin, so it's not so strange if you haven't seen one. It is a salamander in an adult stage where they don't live in water anymore but have moved up on land. They eat small insects.

SuSE has got a chameleon as a symbol, right? I guess a chameleon is about 500 times larger than an eft, at least when it comes to body mass. So, what is the size difference between SuSE and Ubuntu? Would be interesting to know. Not that size matters, it's just another fun fact that I don't have. ;)

I've kept a salamander in a terrarium (is it called like this?9 for some time... very lazy animals, but very funny to watch when eating worms... takes them ages to swallow the worm. but why should they hurry? we've got something to learn from them probably...

I found this thread that has mascots for breezy, dapper and edgy. But I think that the Eft here looks crazy and possibly on drugs. So I would rather like to see some alternatives please... If I only had some artistic skills... :sad:

But these are small thumbnails, I would want larger images that could be used as wallpapers or for other goodies.

Nice pictures. When I heard that the next release was to be named after the eft, I was excited. I've always found the newt life cycle to be interesting. Most amphibians only have an aquatic larval stage and a semi-terrestrial adult stage. Some North American newt species, however, develop from the larval stage into an eft, which is terrestrial. When the eft matures, it returns to the water and transforms again into and adult newt, which is almost completely aquatic. So while the name "Eft" indicates that Ubuntu is metamophosing, it also means that it has a long future ahead!

I think that's pretty much the idea behind edgy... it will be just the first stage of a lang metamorphosis... there are already some signs of this... like the dropping of init...
