Just wondering. I am experiencing extremely low speed for apt-get. Wonder if it's just a specific problem to singapore users. Like to hear from you guys.

Yes, what ISP are you using? Mine starhub, i don't know what they are up to. I was excited when I was told (like in the newspaper) my line is upgraded to 2000bps and I need to switch off and on the ADSL cable modem. I did and whether it was just pure coincident or not, apt-get is very slow until now. Not only that every other website seems slower now.
I never switch off the modem almost a year and I always enjoy close to 1500 bps (apt-get using synaptic is always close to 140 - 150 Kbps). I regret switching off that modem.

The international link, Asia Pacific Cable Network, developed a failure so check your ISP's homepage to see if you're affected.

Or could it be due to the fact that Hoary is released today and there must be many many people trying to upgrade their system??

Two possible reasons I suppose. This is the first time that I ever encountered such slow speed when downloading from the repositories.
