This explains how to play multimedia files on Ubuntu without upgrading it by the Internet. This is particularly helpful when bandwith is low.
1. Open Synaptic Package Manager
2. Click on Edit->Add CD
3. Pop in a Debain 3.1 DVD in your drive
4. The Manager scans the DVD
5. Now, when the scan is over, search for XMMS and XINE.
6. Add them for installation and click APPLY
7. Voila! Your mp3s and videos will now run on Ubuntu 6.06
