View Full Version : A multi button USP a possibility?

I think USP looks great, but I really prefer the three button option of Ubuntu's default panel. Would it be possible to have USP act as three (possibly more) menu buttons?
I like the App menu and the Places menu, thought I think that the System menu could be split up into a System menu(for Admin stuff) and a Customize menu for theming, mouse settings, keyboard stuff, etc.
The reason I prefer the multi-button solution is that the one menu for everything solution is just too clutered, in my opinion. After beginning to use Ubuntu after years away from Linux, I find that I really dislike the Windows Start menu because of the kitchen sink approach; I know what I want to do and everything else is just a distraction.
The look and feel of USP is great and I'd like to use it. So I figured what the hell and ask if it is possible to go multibutton with it.

Hopefully, if this is going to be considered, it would be an option. I may be in the minority here, but I've never liked the three-button menu bar. Wasted valuable panel real estate, in my view.
Just my 2 cents.

Like everything else, USP stands for complete customizability...Everything is an option ;)

sry chanders, once again for my persistance......
but, if you look 3 posts above urs (incidently is mine :p) ....what do u think of my idea? (sry if u have answered it before, didn't see such a response....)
so you don't have to follow the link and find it...i will quote myself...
would it be possible to have user-specific plugins as extra menus instead of extra panes (as an option) ??
Off course! That is why I implemented the plugin system! What extra menus would you like to see?
what i meant was basically, add a new option to the plugins_list key in the options called "new_menu"..... then for example, if i had
applications
newpane
USPcomputer
new_menu
places
USPcalendar
then that would mean the first menu has two panes, one with applications and one with usp computer, whilst the second menu has one pane, with places on top and calendar on bottom....
then add the toggle bar as it's own plugin so that you can have that exactly where you want it....
that would be cool
...:D
