i'm trying to get mailman up and running. i'm using the directions right out of the server guide.
i have everything installed but things do not seem to be working right. here is what i'm seeing. maybe someone can tell me what i've missed.
the server docs tell me that when i go to the administration page, the default list, mailman, will appear on the screen. the page actually tells me that there are "currently no publicly-advertised Mailman mailing lists." i did so the newlist command as instructed.
the admin page tells me that if i have proper authority i can create a list and provides a link to do so. part of the form at that link asks for the "List creator's (authentication) password." i do not recall specifying that anywhere when setting up the system. my own password does not work.
i'm not really familiare with mta's on linux so i'm guessing that is where the problem lies.
my setup is:
Ubuntu 6.06 Server installation
apache 2
mysql
exim4
any tips, tricks or help would be greatly appreciated.
