View Full Version : Sun keymap/mouse wrapper?

I'm running ubuntu linux on my Ultra 10. It's worked great since I've got the FB and X configured (tricky since I have two video cards and it couldn't decide which to use).

My question is why X needs to be configured to accept input from a PC keyboard and PC mouse when I actually have a type5 keyboard and sunmouse. Obviously, there is some wrapper in place that emulates a PC keyboard and mouse, so I won't have to change the X configuration from its default setting.

My question is how I would disable this wrapper, so I can use the keymap that was actually written for my keyboard, and the interface that was actually made for my mouse?

The problem with using this wrapper is that the type5 keyboard has keys that the pc104 doesn't, so I have to do a lot of messing around in order to make it work right. Plus, it gives the wrong names to keys (eg. called super the "windows key", and compose the "menu key").
