I just installed Enemy Territory. when I try to launch the game the screen goes black, I can hear the background sounds but I have no picture. Anyway to remedy this? I was thinking it might be my graphics card isn't good enough .. just some cheap onboard thing. I am able to play other FPS though, such as Tremulous and Cube.

I managed to replicate this effect by doing a really bad install of Enemy Territory ;). Did you use the Loki installer and follow all the instructions perfectly (i.e. all the upgrades, etc?) Also, are you running it with the 'tc-elite' shellscript, or using the executable directly?

Unlikely to be a graphics card problem, as the engine is the same as the other games you've mentioned.

I downloaded the Linux version off one of the sites listed at the ET site. something.run. I CD'd to that directory and ran it using
'
sh et-linux-2.60.x86.run
