Remember all that hubbub about Mac geeks switching to Ubuntu? Well, Tim Bray (one of those geeks) is back on the Mac and he thinks that it beats Ubuntu, though just barely....

well, it says there in the link - he had to temporarily switch to ubuntu because his mac was being repaired. so there never was any "switch".

there usually is, it seems ;). he appears to have liked ubuntu a lot. and the fact that he seems to have said that mac is only barely better is more than expected. provided that someone is well aware of alternative OS's, most people who were forced to use an alternative OS to one that that they preferred using sometimes develop a sort of subconscious resentment to the chosen OS that they're forced to use (no matter how good it is).

Plus, his arguments for "Where OSX wins" (as well as the "Where Ubuntu wins" ones) are centered on personal habits and most can be had on either OS with very little tweaking.

I actually never understood why people are paying so much attention to one guy who is switching. When a person such as Tim bray switches, whether to Mac or GNU/Linux distributions it does nothing to me.
Tim Bray is a programmer. So? In my opinion that isn't an elite measurement which decides whether Mac OS X is better or GNU/Linux distro's.
For instance, I have build, repaired and maintained many computers in my life. From Pentium II system to Intel Pentium D and AMD FX based systems. That doesn't mean I know about which operating system is better, or how to code and how to judge things like GUI.
Programmers on the other hand know more about writing applications, debugging, GUI's and more. That doesn't mean they automatically know more about computers, people and Operating Systems in general. If so, we wouldn't be complaining about our applications and our GUI's.
