lose access to forums sometimes

Why is it that sometimes I can not access the forums website for anywhere from just a few minutes to sometimes maybe a few hours and there is no message displayed saying that the website is down ?

I have had instances wherein I could not access the forums but a message was displayed saying something to the effect that they were being maintained and that they would be back shortly.

Is this a problem on my end or theirs ?

Right now (8 a.m. where I live) there are approximately 4000 people viewing the forums (including guest users). A popular site coupled with general internet congestion can make things frustrating sometimes. Just bear with it, it happens to me too.
