I saw at the top of the forum front page a request for donations. Cool, I'll give you guys a little money, but uh oh, it's PayPal, and they don't like my country.

Can you set up an alternative? Amazon Donations or Google Checkout would be great.

It says paypal, but they also accept some credit cards, at the screen where you put in your paypal username and password you click on "pay with secure credit card" or something like that. I just donated and I don't use paypal either. It's very rewarding!

It's not just that I don't use Paypal but they wont even let people from my country (and lots others) to use our credit cards through their service. I got to the page you said and I can't go forward.

Amazon and Google are much much more accommodating.

and as for myself, I do not trust PayPal... :(
So any alternative would be better

PS: this is my own personnal opinion. If I do not trust them, it is just a matter of feeling...

I've just donated some money, but this didn't make sense after I donated:

Your Donation has now been processed. Thank you for this generous donation. It is the generosity of people such as yourself that helps pay for ever increasing bandwidth costs, our hosting Service, domain registration, software licensing fees, and continued improvement.

I thought Ubuntu was 100% free, and thats why MP3 support etc isn't out of the box?

Edit: Ahh do they mean like the Forum's etc?

Yep, as you mention, I think that vBulletin (the forum software) is not free of charge... :(
But, I find it anyway a great software. Or at least, the forum guys did a great job to customise it ;)

Where's the bit about the "backup" servers?

As far as I can work out it's US-only. I can't proceed without entering a US ZIP code. Would like to donate... could get a paypal account.

At this time paypal is the only way for us to accept donations.

It would be nice if there was some kind of a counter, showing how many bucks currently donated.

Setting up the other options isn't difficult, and they have programs designed to accept donations. If the admins are too busy then maybe someone else can set it up for you all?
