theming support

so now that the plugin system is done....how easy would it be for someone to create full theming support for the panel? (not me...i have neither time nor expertise :p)

i have a few simple (hopefully simple) whishes.....

1) ability to add custom created graphics (pixmaps?....i have no idea how to refer to this...)

2) ability to change icons, colour of text, colour of heading etc....on an overall and individual basis (say overall is i want all text to be white....or on individual u could right click on some entry and choose a "theme" option where theming type options for that entry could be changed)

3) ability to define what shape the panels should be....(circles, triangles, polygons of a random nature, balloons, spiky balloons....anything to the hearts content (i don't like square things...they look old :p :D)

4)i'm sure other people will come up with other ideas....

may the usp rule the world!
(after full theming support is implemented of course) :D

my comments:

1. I was thinking about background images tiled and overlapping background pictures that can be put top, middle, bottom + left, center, right. (9 combinations)

2. I agree

3. I don't agree. This will mess up alot of contents. We might "smooth" the borders to look less square (to look a little bit rounded on the corners) but a complete change is impossible imo. It will draw things outside the shape then.

out of curiosity will the usp ever be themable to the point of over-the-top eye candy as in the examples above....?

of course not as important as making it more useful....but still it would be nice :D

I don't think it's a good idea (the more apps follow a common look & feel, the better. Being close to the gtk theme is good). It's certainly not easy to do, anyway.
