What do these little pics mean?

I have noticed lately that the pictures next to my avatar, under my username, have been changing - currently it's coffee cups and coffee beans. Are these little pictures meant to be some kind of "status" or "rank" to show my standing in the forums? I like them and was wondering if there is a listing of which pictures appear at which days/times/ranking/? Can I choose a certain custom picture for this or is this set by the forums software?

Also, I love these forums. One of the things which makes Ubuntu the best distro on the planet is the awesome Ubuntu community. You folks and these forums ROCK!
