I have a Ubuntu LTS server as a VMware host, and I bought an APC UPS for it, forgetting that it's not a Windows box.

Is it possible to get something that will enable using an APC UPS (it's a Back-UPS 750VA with a USB connection only) with this LTS server??

Is snmp installed by default or do I need to sudo apt-get snmp?? Or what would be the correct command??

I'm looking to try out FiveRuns for monitoring this server.

Thank you, Tom

It is a APC Back-UPS ES USB 750VA w/TEL & COAX 120V by the way.
I now remember seeing a post somewhere in here about UPS installation etc., I will look...but any advice/information would be very helpful, thank you!!
P.S. APC doesn't provide any Linux-oriented software for this device.
Thanks, Tom

I found apcupsd etc. information, I can get it with apt-get and set up its *.conf file, I just need to know about snmp...
Thanks, Tom
