I don't think you need any more info (im a n00b when it comes to irc).

Unfortuantly someone had already got #ubuntu-podcast, so I couldn't use that (I wouldn't be a Operator). If anyone knows how we could get that, that would be great!

You need to use a IRC program. If you need one, use either xchat or gaim. Xchat is in Synaptic, and Gaim comes installed with Ubuntu.

Type the details supplied to connect.

I switch from Gnome to KDE everytime, so you can use Konversation too in KDE, I think its great, love it like X-Chat. ;)
