Let's see if I understand it. As the web page says, I have to send a self adressed empty envelope, and you then send it back to me with free stickers in it regardless of the country I live in?

That's right - if you're out of the country make sure to put the right amount of postage to get it back to you.

But for example if I live in Europe, how can I send the envelope with _american_ stamps? AFAIK it makes no difference if I load the envelope with british or swedish stamps, they won't be accepted by USPS.

I live in Puerto Rico. How many stamps should I put on it and when you mean self-address you mean to just add my own address on the upper left portion of the envelope or something else?
cIprO
August 13th, 2006, 02:31 PM
I think what he meant is you fill out 2 envelopes with your address and their address both with stamps. You put one inside the other and mail it away .. wait a few days/weeks and you get some free stickers =)

Hi!
Do you have news about Portugal?
I'm not sure that Portuguese stamps are valid to send form another Country :(
I've just sent an e-mail to our "national mail corporation" (I really don't know how to say this in english, lol) - CTT (http://www.ctt.pt) - asking if European Union stamps exist and how much do they cost.
Hope they answer my e-mail...

CTT answered me that "the stamps of each country can only be used 'inside' of them country or from 'inside' to a foreigner country".
They said that (at least in my Country - Portugal) exist some "Answer Coupons" that can be sent with the envelope and exchanged for stamps after, in the foreigner country. But this isn't a solution, because it's impossible to the sender (of the stickers) to exchange every "Answer Coupon" received... I think...

They aren't totally free, however.
The prices range from $3 for 10 pcs to $15 for 100 pcs, shipping included. I ship worldwide, no difference to me. I have shipped 751 stickers to date, and it seems all but 10 have arrived OK.

Sweet. When I can come up with an envelope that fits inside the envelopes I have (or an envelope I can fit my current envelopes into), I'll send in for some. I have the sticker that came with the Dapper CDs prominentantly displayed on the back of my laptop, and I've been wondering what to do about that "Designed for Microsoft Windows XP" decal that won't come off.
I'm also pleased to hear about System76. While I've no immediate need to buy a new computer, I was a bit concerned about what I'd do when I need to upgrade my laptop. All the major vendors want to sell you Windows, and I'd rather not give Microsoft my money when I'm not going to use their operating system. And the System76 prices are competitively priced. I'll definitely keep it in mind when it's time to upgrade.

Hmmm. Turns out they do come off. It left a lot of glue behind, but now I too have a nice clean patch awaiting a sticker.
Speaking of my stickers, I sent off roughly 5 weeks ago and haven't seen my stickers yet. I'm not trying to complain, as it's a free service and I appreciate getting the stickers, I'm just wondering whether this is a delay due to backup on the System 76 end, or if my envelope/stickers got lost in the mail and I should send another envelope.

Mine came in the mail today! Or so says my mom - I'm away at school and won't be home to get them for a couple of weeks. But it's good to know they're waiting for me.
I might note that it was because of these stickers that I found out about System76, and there's a chance I wouldn't be getting a Gazelle right now without them. I don't know what it's costing System76 to send them out, but I'm guessing it turns out to be pretty good advertising.

Not a complaint by any means...just kinda curious.
I sent my stamped envelope back in January and was just wondering when they might arrive (I'm in Canada)...I'm really not too rushed myself...just I addressed them to my mailbox here at my dorm and am somewhat worried about not getting them ever as I go home in a month and a half for summer and will not be living in residence next year.

Ok, fair enough, he's busy, but that was posted over a month ago and still no sticker.
I'm still wondering if *anyone* from Canada has gotten their stickers? I've seen lots of Canadians asking where their sticker is, but I don't anyone saying they finally got theirs.
I don't want to come across as a complainer, I know these are free and that it's volunteer time to send them out, but it is frustrating. If Cory can't keep up with it, then maybe he should find someone else to take it on, or something like that.

I don't think you'll have to worry about that so much. and I think you can buy US postage here in canada, you might just have to get it as a pre-paid envelope.

Nope, no joy. You cannot buy US stamps in Canada, according to my local post office.
You can buy some kind of coupon, which the recipient would have to take to the local US Post office & exchange for a US stamp, but I don't think anyone wants to do that.
So, we're back where we started.

We have a young lady that comes in every few weeks to stuff the stickers into envelopes and mail them. There was such a huge pile of requests a few days ago (when she was last here) that she ran out of stickers about 3/4 of the way through!
We have more stickers on order. So, if you don't get yours in a day or so, it is probably awaiting the next batch of stickers and the next appearance of our dedicated young lady.

Thom,
Yeah! Honestly ... I would pay up to $10.00 (that would include shipping and handling) for a replacement key for my Serval that allows me to throw away that window$ key to be replaced by an Ubuntu key - B&W okay, but color would be outrageous.
