Yeah, but I meant a Scottish football Tux.

Back on topic: $89.95 seems a bit much!

No, you download a free iso (ftp://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/peanut/current/alinux.iso). That's only if you want the dvd, case etc sent to you.

Well if the OS is free then $89.95 seems VERY expensive for the physical media, packing and postage.

True..but I guess the devs need to eat, too. Free isos are good..but...too much talk drives me off...this distro certainly blows its own trumpet. Still, I will try it...

Yep, 760 Mb (I've got 2 distros at 50% now) Slow process :(

Ok, after 2 atempts, the iso stops downloading and freezes at around 65%.
I don't know if it's ibiblio or my Spanish connection, but RR4-Linux-3.0.RC1-miniEdition came down ok. I am going to give aLinux one more try.

Just from looking at the website and the screenshots I have already drawn my conclusions about "professionalism" and "superiority", I hope you can prove me wrong with this review when it happens. :p

I agree, it seems that alinux can "talk the talk" but it can't "walk the walk".

I have decided to start a series of threads specifically for technical help for other Distros...the Distro is listed in the thread title. This is primarily for Ubuntu users who test or use other distros and feel most comfortable seeking help in our own community. In no way does this superceed the help you should also be getting from the perspective Distro., in fact I encourage you to be as active in their forums as you are here and post ideas, knowledge and solutions here to provide a reference point to share, reference links are encouraged.

FYI, it even says on their website that you have to use an 800 mb cdr to burn it. I assume you can use a dvd as well (I accidentaly burned Ubuntu onto a dvd once and it worked fine).

But geez... looking at those screencaps, why would you even want to try it? ;)

When I donloaded from the website it was always corrupt and never worked(even on a 800mb cd). Had to pay to download it(.49 and it wasn't even worth that!) . I wouldn't use it if they paid me 89.95!

It doesn't seem that special from the screenshots.
And what advantage would it have over Ubuntu?

Legal Codecs is the only one I can see.

Aye...Install them with Automatix and EasyUbuntu here at the blink of a hat. We have better forums, too. And more original artwork.

True, but here in the U.S they are illegal to install that way, so none of us do:---) . And a better philosophy:)

Edited to add UBUNTU has the better Philosophy...That's not what it looks like up there though is it?
