Checked "Distro Watch", there is a review for a Chinese distro based on Debian / Ububtu, named "HIWEED" (http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=hiweed) ! Is this from a programmer in B.C. Canada ?

I think the berry linux splash screen was designed by someone hi-on-weed

Hiweed-Debian GNU/Linux is a Chinese Linux distribution, based on Debian GNU/Linux. Its features include preconfigured Chinese applications, such as Chinese (simplified) input method, Chinese-English and English-Chinese dictionaries, and Chinese (simplified) true-type fonts.

This looks like one I want to burn.

That reminds of when I left Berry to boot itself, and the default is Japanese :)

I have decided to start a series of threads specifically for technical help for other Distros...the Distro is listed in the thread title. This is primarily for Ubuntu users who test or use other distros and feel most comfortable seeking help in our own community. In no way does this superceed the help you should also be getting from the perspective Distro., in fact I encourage you to be as active in their forums as you are here and post ideas, knowledge and solutions here to provide a reference point to share, reference links are encouraged.

I hate when that happens, I did that once with Musix.

That's not at all what hiweed looked like when I tried it...

I must be off my rocker..

I saw an extremely cluttered xfce-panel, half chinese, half english, and no video player of any kind. This is why I think I'm going nuts, because I thought it was supposed to include w32codecs??

I think the berry linux splash screen was designed by someone hi-on-weed
lol, presumably so
This is a dumb idea. There are forums for other distros
m-kay...
Indeed there are, but read yozef's note when the threads were merged. I didn't think it was a great idea at first, but am beginning to like it. It helps me be lazy when I want to try a new distro. I can read reviews from people with (sometimes) a similar persective as my own, and don't have to look very far.

nalmeth,

I'm glad the change is growing on you;),...and glad you appreciate the change. Primarily, I am just looking to make the "Other" Linux talk forum more user friendly.

I hope more people find it enjoyable.

Jozef

on topic: I haven't tried Hiweed yet,....I am currently installing GNU Hurd, (we'll see how that goes).
