Getting this error when I tried to install

How am I suppose to know what packages?

Nothing in the term that I can tell.

System sanity check: PASSED!
['/usr/sbin/synaptic', '--hide-main-window', '--non-interactive', '-o=dir::etc=./conf', '-o=dir::etc::sourcelist=sources.list']
In update ['/usr/sbin/synaptic', '--hide-main-window', '--non-interactive', '-o=dir::etc=./conf', '-o=dir::etc::sourcelist=sources.list', '--update-at-startup']
In Install ['/usr/sbin/synaptic', '--hide-main-window', '--non-interactive', '-o=dir::etc=./conf', '-o=dir::etc::sourcelist=sources.list', '--set-selections']

That is the last part of the term window.

I have a partial install that had a couple of grayed out options when I tried to run again.

Any help is appreciated.

Try doing updates from the terminal.

{code]sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude dist-upgrad[/code]

Note: Retry the first step untill it it tells you 0 downloaded, and retry the second until it says 0 downloaded, 0 to install. D not reboot until you get these results.

hi,

I made an installation of dapper this morning and I got exactly the same problem ten minutes ago with easyubuntu lastest stable release, so trying to install via synaptic all the packages that easyUbuntu was going to install, I found that totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin requires totem-gstreamer 1.4.1 but the current version (at least on my system) is 1.4.3.

This relates to forum post:
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-240439.html

This relates to bugs:
https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu/+bug/47789
https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu/+bug/55353

This issue still exists, but it does not appear to be an easyubuntu issue. The issue is the totem-gstreamer 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 that is installed on many people's computers, but appears to be greater than the Dapper version:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/gnome/totem-gstreamer

I encountered the same issue today with an updated Dapper system.

$sudo apt-get install totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin: Depends: totem-gstreamer (= 1.4.1-0ubuntu4) but 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

lloyd@lloyd-laptop:/bak/ubuntu/easyubuntu$ dpkg -l | grep -i totem-gstreamer ii totem-gstreamer 1.4.3-0ubuntu1 A simple media player for the Gnome desktop

WORK AROUND

$sudo apt-get remove totem-gstreamer

(note packages that are removed)

$sudo apt-get install totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin ubuntu-desktop

(ensure that all packages that were removed are now installed again)

Thank you foolswisdom. That workaround worked perfectly for me. :D

I get the 'unmet dependencies' message when I try to install the firefox plugin and ubuntu-desktop.

Has anyone managed to solve this yet?

I didn't get this error but I think that it's a problem with APT.
You can try sudo apt-get -f install
