In this most excelent python script,it calls at least one file with the OLD directory structure of the packages.freeserve.org site. I was able to update the synaptic repository list as described at the "Unofficial Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) Starter Guide" at:-
http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Dapper
which then allows the easyubuntu script to run succesfully, even though it coughs up 404 errors, the new structure is as below.

yet even with this script when I try to use totem from cspan.org for Microsoft Media files, it gives error:

totem could not play "fd://0"
only a subtitle stream was detected. Either you are loading a subtitle file, or some other type of text file, or the media was not recognized.

Doesn't easy install the needed stuff for this to work? Not for me. This was on fresh ubuntu install too.

yes but that doesn't fix the problem with easy. We need a stable release of easy that has the new packages.

Sorry, was more posting for informativeness than as an attempt to fix.

The bug is known and is being addressed (https://launchpad.net/products/easyubuntu/+bug/53319)
