What are your favorite foods?
I personally love Chinese, Japanese, and Mexican foods. I could (and often do) eat anyone of these every day. Here are my favorites:
Chinese - kung pow chicken, sesame chicken (rarely eat it since it is fried)
Japanese - steak or shrimp
Mexcian - chimichangas

FYI- I posted this just because I think it is interesting to hear about others' tastes. There have been recent posts about tastes in tv shows and music, so I figured why not do one about food.

Ramen? You mean like those 90 cent packages? You a student or something? Well, I guess I ate my share of that stuff too...:)

90 cents? You're getting ripped off! I only pay a quarter for them.
I adore Chinese food-- all of it that I've had anyway. And Mexican-- I could totally live off Taco Bell, but I prefer more authentic places.
And pizza will always be the meal that I can always go for.

Nothing beats a good braai with an awsome steak.

1 asian food
2 italian food
3 food with a lot of meat like mexican or spare-ribs or shoarma
4 fast-food & snacks
I almost like everything. I like variation. There are some dishes I don't eat a lot but when I eat them I very much like them. For example I alwasys eat at my birthday is "stoofperen" ... it's like a special sort of pears that are cooked.
The food I don't like at all are the quite traditional dutch potatoe dishes (especially cooked potatoes) served with a bit of green stuff and a bit of meat. It's so boring.
PS I like fries and chips :)

I'm vegan, so it is a little different for me, but do like my noodles, pasta, rice, the vegan meat replacement stuff is not bad, but i prefer stuff that is naturely vegan, like curry

Beef. Beef. Beef.
Be it a thick steak, or a juicy burger,
maybe some brisket, and some ribs.
And pork.
Bacon. Sausage. ham. All from the same, wonderful, mythical beast.
Cooked over a fire as the sun sets.
Mmmmmmm, mmmmmmm.
And sour gummi worms, too.

They are a tasty delight;
My stomach is full."

because i care about my freedom, i eat only food that i can get the "source code" for. so if a particular food item does not come with the recipe, it is therefore proprietary and will not touch my mouth. ok, kidding.
right so i really like things you can wrap in a tortilla. beans wrapped in a tortilla with cheese and olives and mushrooms. i like hotdogs wrapped in a tortilla. my roomate and wife were talking the other day and we surmised that stuffing wrapped in a tortilla might be good. maybe with some hot sauce.
i really like homade pizza. the store bough stuff is pretty lame.
i have been going the organic route as of late. my wife and i are going to keep along that path, it seems like the right thing to do, health wise. that and regular exercise, but that is another post.
i also like indian food. they really know how to spice it up. i mean united states food is pretty bland in comparison. they have mastered the art of curry, and curry is a fun way to go.
i respect authentic mexian dishes too. tex-mex is fine, however, nothing beats the real stuff.
i also respect the creativity in good thai dishes.
i like all kinds of beans.
kosher meals are pretty fun too. though, i do mix milk and meat occasionally #-o

It's funny you say that. I once found a photo of RMS and a few other Linux "stars" sitting at a table eating. Everyone seemed to be laughing and having a good time, but RMS had his armes folded and looked kinda sour. So I fired up GIMP and added a few captions.
The guy next to RMS was saying "Oh, c'mon Richard, try the apple pie!"
And Stallman replying "Look, no recipe, no taste. And how can you sit there and give away your freedom like that?"
The guy on the other side of RMS responded "well, bondage sure tastes good to me!"
;-)
Wonder what I did with that........

Thank ya. :) I like fast food because it is so unhealthy and tastes so good. I haven't had a good burger in a few months... I'm drooling...
Now, I present to you, a melding of some of the best foods ever, in a recipe I wrote myself:
DOlson's Beefy Cheese Fries
Cook up one pound of ground beef in a frying pan.
Put a half a bag of fries in the deep fryer for a few minutes.
Drain the beef and put it on top of the fries when they are ready.
Grate a half-block of marble cheese, and load it on top while the fries
and beef are still hot.
Yummy!
Makes one serving.

*LOL* One serving? I can't eat that much!
But *drool* that sounds good. Reminds me of the chili cheese fries my dining hall used to have.

After being Vegetarian for X decades and then Vegan for a number of years... my favorite foods have kind of turned odd...
1. most Indian foods (I'm allergic to a couple ingredients - so I can't have everything Indian... but most) ... There is a local place that makes lamb-free Shekh Kabobs... those are yummy.
2. This is an odd one, "Cajun Sushi" ... it's mostly vegetarian, and fire-breathing spicy... but maaaaaaaaaaaan is it good.
3. Pacific Northwest Bistro ... this one is hard to pin-down, but essentially is usually a fish + pasta + cream + lemon/lime + vegetables + hazelnuts ... kinda hard to explain.
4. Recently, I've taken a liking to panini-style sandwiches as well...
(woah! primeirocrime, you actually like haggis?! That stuff stinks when you make it. heh.)

haggis is brilliant kassetra, there a vegetarian haggis and is also good :), just put some pepper with the nippies and tatties and have a nice wine with it. I sugest quite naturaly a portuguese wine from the Dão or Alentejo (http://www.portuguesewine.com/redwine.asp#Dao) region.
Cajun Sushi!!!! I've got to have that, I love spiced up food.

I gave up being vegan because I freakin' LOVE dairy! Cheese and Iced Lattes and Ice Cream! Oh my!
Rice Cream and Soy Cream just never floated my boat. And oh no I just couldn't stand soy lattes... uhhh, no.
I need dairy! (Even though it's soooooooooo bad for my system!)
And fish! I have to have my Cajun Sushi! :)

Gotta try the vegetarian version... because I could *never* get past the smell before... (not to mention I know how to make it so that just stopped me from trying it right there. heh.)
Hmmm... been a while since I had portuguese wine.
Maybe I'll start up a recipe thread and post some of my cajun sushi recipes. heh. It's really really good. Like I said though, fire-breathing hot. heh.
Yet another reason I have to have dairy... nothing cools the palate like dairy. heh. :)
