Hey guys! First post!
I just read the latest Q&A for the PS3, and I almost died when I read this.
Will Linux OS be adopted as you have planned?
Yes. PS3 is a computer system and Linux OS is adopted as one of the standard OSes.

This sounds great.. this will help with the hardware compatabiltiy... For instance... they mentioned usb wireless adapters... that means, we may be able to use ps3 wireless cards with ubuntu. WOOT!

Think bigger. It means that Sony will almost certainly release a Blu-ray driver for Linux.

Unfortunately, what this DOESN'T mean (atleast IMO) is that said driver would be open source, or even non-properietary to PS3.
Well, I suppose we'll only know in November (or whenever the heck the release date is).

If the driver is compiled into the kernel, they must release the source-code of it. But it's true, Sony might accomplish it some other way to avoid releasing the source.
Then, the same could be true of the wireless adaptors.

So, the PS3 was released today (in Japan).
Its based on a PPC core.
Anyone know when Ubuntu will work on it?
