I've read at this link (https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/multimedia#TOC-First-step:-install-nearly-everything-with-Ubuntu-Software-Center) the suggestion of installing audacious, smplayer and vlc on Ubuntu. Is this suggestion suitable even on Kubuntu or, considering that Kubuntu has amarok and dragonplayer, are these two applications a valid replacement of those ones?

I've found on an italian tutorial the answer to my question: the author suggests to install VLC as a replacement of dragonplayer, since this app seems not to be able to manage .srt files.
