13.04 Atheros Wireless Network Card Not Working, Compaq Presario CQ61Z

Hey!

So two days ago I installed 13.04 on my computer hoping it would fix the problem in 12.10 with my wireless internet connection, but lo and behold, it's the exact same. I can't even see any broadcasting wifi networks, even though I know there are many around me (including my own) because I am running alongside win 7. The ethernet is working (that's what I'm using right now), but I can't get anything wireless to work at all, even though I know my network is fully functional. When I switch over to win 7, it works perfectly, no problems at all, but I just don't understand what is happening. I am a complete n00b to linux, and I really want to get into it, but how can I when I can't connect to the internet?

I have a Compaq Presario CQ61Z, and I know I have an Atheros card, but I don't know specifically. Can any of you please help? This is so tiring!

Is there a MAC address filter activated in your router?

Not that I'm aware of, but I'm strongly inclined to think that's not the problem. It seems to be internal to the OS because it keeps saying the network device is unmanaged, and I can't even change some of the settings.

Also, I just took it to a beans and brews (even though I'm a starbucks fan) and tried to connect to wifi, but I can't even detect networks at all....I don't understand..

I really appreciate your help, but after a long while of digging around I found this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1998634

This fixed my problem in a few simple steps from chili555, so anyone in the future just check it out!

P.S. Remember to keep the package resolvconf because if you don't have it, you can't edit some options in the drop down menu for networks.
