VLC and what I will need

I have installed VLC on my PC and i know there is more that i need to get it to work, which is why I am here to find out which fils need to be incorporated so it will work as it has in the past.

If you installed it using the software-centre or apt-get, everything that is needed to run VLC will have been installed as dependencies. If you installed from source, I can't help as that is something I have never done, nor needed to do.

What you may still need is to install the *ubuntu-restricted-extras package for your OS version as that may contain some codecs you don't already have, and will also allow you to play commercially made DVDs if you follow the instructions at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats
